Racing Game Trailer

Well, we're at the end of the year. All of our levels are complete and now it's time to showcase. Here's the trailer I created with combined footage of everybody's levels. (will be uploading a version from youtube soon)

Line Dancing: Line work sketch study

It's late night practice time. Here's my newest quick piece practicing line work and giving it a sketchy look. I'm only using the hard round brush this time, and avoiding shading with the soft round, which I've turned into a habit. I'm also practicing eye shape. This one took about an hour.

Dark of the Storm

Here's a dramatic late night piece. About an hour and a half's time with distractions :P

Final Character

Here's my final character :) Meet Miss Lady Dragona Nightshade. Everything is too shiny and some aspects need to be tweaked, but overall, I'm happy with her colors and will be posting her newly painted matching car soon! I still have so much to learn about materials

Python Scripting ideas

For our final programming assignment, we have to create some python scripts for daily use in Maya.

Some of my ideas would be:
-Display face normals
-Merge vertices
-erase history
-Mirror geometry
-cut faces
-soften normals
-fill hole
-add divisions
-add planar map
-smooth mesh
-export
-check local axis of skeleton

I think the 3 simple ones I'll do will be:
-display face normals
-check local axis of skeleton
-smooth mesh
(for a possible 4th) -add divisions

for the complex script: Mirror geometry

"The Crew" Beatsheet

For our reverse edit assignment. I decided that I would illustrate "The Crew" trailer from 2013. I love the energy of the trailer and it seemed like it would be the most entertaining to draw. It has interesting angles that emphasize the energy in the shots.

Here's the trailer

Attract Trailer Inspiration

For referencing trailers, I decided to choose Need For Speed.

I liked this trailer because it immediately starts off with high energy and excitement with quick cutscenes. There's a short scene at the beginning that shows the track and environment briefly, and I wish there was some more introduction, but it works out anyways. Various cutscenes to first person gameplay which lets the audience know that it's a first person racer. By showing first person view, you can see what type of game experience you could have by them showing crashes, spin outs, and drifts. It's an exciting trailer that is meant to pump up potential buyers.

Limiting time

Trying to limit my time with digital painting sketches, giving myself less and less time to do a sketch.

This recent one was about 20 minutes. No composition, just practicing.

Hub idea

For my hub, I want it to match the neon lights theme of my level, but I might add some more space aspects to this idea later.

Particle Spasms!

Finished some particles. Still learning on layering materials correctly so I can make a large star explosion for my level. Here's the few that I've made.

We'll start from the smallest up :) Here's just a little baby star that rotates and throbs slightly for quick glisten in the space-light. Made with just one layer

Next are my coins. In my level I have broken slot machines. I want these exploding coins to be flying out of the machines. They explode in random directions

A very simple spark particle effect, nothing fancy. These would be used on my slot machines as well for differences in particle designs.

Blue falling sparks! Took a while to figure out this one correctly. These will be falling from my neon lights in one of my casino rooms. Like so, below.
Neon throw-up everywhere! Level is still in progress.

Last but not least, I made a thing. I was experimenting with some particle properties and created a ridiculously flashy firework/star? Hmm. Since this attracts my attention a lot, I'm putting this cluster ball of randomness by my space billboard advertisements. Like so, below, by the corners of the poster. :)

Once I get these particles placed correctly in my level, a video is in order!
